Health

In caring for the village, we care for the people. As health is wealth, Parcel of Peace invests to ensure good access to healthcare for people in Nuwakot. The health post in the region was in a dire condition, with little facilities provided, in need of help. Our first task was to refurbish the health post to good health- to make sure that the health post is able to provide care when any local is in need of care during times of need or emergency.

Parcel of Peace constructed and renovated buildings for two different health posts. So far we have provided equipment, furniture, water tanks and medicines and built toilets. Occasionally we organize mobile medical health camps by bringing in good doctors where we work and all locals are encouraged to get a free check up. This allows an opportunity to know the condition of their health without having to travel afar.

During times of emergency, such as the earthquake of 2015, we put up several such camps  after the earthquake. Thousands of people lost their lives, thousands were injured and many of them were paralyzed. Parcel of Peace with 4 doctors organized medical camps in different places in different districts and treated them with patience and love.

Many times we choose to give medical grants, a financial aid, to medical cases that are emergencies or have a cost that runs very large with the requirement that our grant would in such cases be very beneficial to the grantee.

We have helped 11 cases so far from paying a cancer patient’s medical bills to paying for an amputee’s prosthetic legs to monthly grants for senior citizens suffering from heart diseases, with the total grant amount being 7 Lakh Rupees
